BARBERINO VAL D’ELSA WALK “BRIGLIE DI LEONARDO"

A professionally guided walk by Sara.  According to the historians Leonardo visited, studied and wrote about the famous “briglie” (bridles in English) along the Agliena river, in the valley below Barberino. A beautiful and interesting walk along the river. Not to be missed!

Full day Ladies Adventure in VAL D’ORCIA  Walking, cheese tasting, lunch and beauty!

This will be a full day experience from 9:30  to 16:30.

What you can expect:

This will be a magic day in and around one of the most charming examples of renaissance style towns: Pienza, the “ideal town” of Pope Pius II.

We will have a walk all around Pienza’s clay hills, in the very heart of Orcia Valley Unesco heritage site. The landscape there is absolutely gorgeous. After the visit of the village and a couple of hours walking, we will stop at an organic cheese farm for tasting and a light lunch. ( about 6km)

The farm, Podere Il Casale ,has an outstanding restaurant that is all organic, farm to table. We will be served the freshest seasonal products grown or produced by the farm, or sourced at local organic farms. The restaurant is an old restored barn that overlooks the Val d'Orcia, Pienza and Monte Amiata.

We will also have a  guided tour of the farm and see what it means to live a peasant life in the Orcia Valley. We will be shown the  daily life from the barn to the dairy.

We will be introduced to their animals from donkeys to sheep while they explain their role on the farm. After that we will be taken to the dairy where we learn more about the cheese production and the ageing.

After our visit and lunch we will have a lovely digestive walk back to Pienze in the afternoon. (6km)  This will complete our day out in nature with great company, food , wine and history.
