About the Event
This is a professionally guided LOOP walk just outside the city centre, from San Niccolò to Piazzale Michelangelo along the panoramic roads and paths of the hill of Arcetri. We will see the church of San Salvatore al Monte and will have a close look at the castle of Torre del Gallo and the Astronomical Observatory. We will hear stories of Galileo living here among other fascinating facts.
Distance: 11km
Total climb : 350m
Terrain: mainly on paved roads, partly on Paths
Level: Easy in terms of paved roads and not much altitude change. You can wear sneakers for this walk.
What to bring: Backpack with bottle of water, snacks, if you like poles you can bring but not necessary, sun glasses, dress in layers.
Extra info re: This is a slower paced walk steeped in history. We will make some stops to discuss the history and importance of our location. If any of you came on the first semi -urban walk, it will be like that. On the way back we will walk down to Signorvino near Ponte Vecchio , so you can decide to go home from there instead of coming back to San Niccolò.
