Fiesole and Monte Ceceri (1)

The quarries of Maiano represent only a part of the vast complex of extraction of ornamental stones that extends throughout the area between Maiano and Settignano. Our hike brings us through the quarries of Maiano, now abandoned and in complete disuse, where the excavations of the precious varieties of "pietra forte" and "pietra serena" (otherwise called "gray stone") were obtained.
