Terrain: paved road, park

Description:This walk is part of a new series led by LAF member Jenny Parnell, through the Bellosguardo area. 'At times the route will vary, but the length and timing will remain the same. Variations include boboli and some special spots.
Starting in Porta Romana, we will walk the hill of Bellosguardo, one of the most scenic hills above Florence, chosen by poets and artists of the past. Though all on paved roads, the feeling is of being suspended between the city and the countryside and makes you dream about aristocratic life here in the 19th century. Some of the historic sights we will encounter are the Cappella di Monte Oliveto, the tabernacle established by the Granduca Leopoldo II, the Church of San Bartolomeo, where it has been argued that Leonardo da Vinci painted his Annunciation , and the Villa Ombrellino.
We will end our walk through a beautiful park, the Parco di Villa Strozzi, eventually ending at Piazza Tasso.
What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, Bottle (s) of water, snacks , walking poles( if you typically use them) , hat, Sunglasses, rain gear if needed.Â
