Discover a different kind of Florence in the Oltrarno (beyond the Arno River), a fascinating area to wander around and discover the true character of Florence. The neighborhood is full of churches, palaces, art, antique shops, and artisan studios. We will stroll along the backstreets of the neighborhood and meet goldsmiths, papermakers, mosaic workers and roll up our sleeves for a hands-on gilding experience (take home what you create). In addition, we will enjoy the great view from the Ponte Vecchio, the only medieval bridge to have survived destruction during World War II, and duck into the church of Santa Felicità to view Pontormo’s Deposition, considered one of the greatest works of Mannerist art.
