Day 1: Monday November 8th, 2021 Walk from SAN GIMIGNANO to COLLE VAL D’LESA

Description:  As we leave the tower houses of San Gimignano behind, we enter into beautiful fields of the Tuscan countryside complete with lovely chapels, gorgeous country houses immersed in the flora and fauna. A we enter Colle Val d’ Elsa we are reminded why it is called the city of crystal and paper. We will have the opportunity to discover this hidden gem.

Day 2: Tuesday November 9th 2021: Walk from COLLE VAL D’ELSA – MONTERIGGIONI

Description: One of the most beautiful routes along Via Francigena. Walking along the river Elsa natural park will be lovely and refreshing. We will reach Strove and Abbadia Isola, a Benedictine abbey founded in 1001. The arrival in Monteriggioni will be super panoramic, the castle is really well preserved and full of hidden corners.

Ebbio is a restored 13th century farm beautifully transformed in a tranquil spot. Nestled inside an evergreen forest, it sits on an extinct volcano that was sacred to the Etruscans and overlooks the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni. It is on the Via Francigena, which makes it a perfect spot to rest our weary feet.

The principle at Ebbio is that food is the ultimate source of health and happiness. They use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, primarily the produce they grow on site, which is certified organic. It is primarily vegetarian based.

Day 3 Wednesday November 10th 2021: Walk from MONTERIGGIONI to SIENA

The longest and most gorgeous stretch of our pilgrimage.  We will walk for a while in the Montagnola oak tree forest and step by step we will discover the amazing castles, villas and country houses of Siena surroundings. We will enter downtown by the Camollia Gate that welcome us with the inscription “Cor magis tibi Sena pandit”: Siena opens a bigger heart to you, than the door you are crossing”.

Total climb: +/- 120 m
