About the Event
This is a wonderful series for residents of Florence who may have walked around these area before, but have not had the opportunity to learn about the art, history , buildings and what once stood in these magical areas. Since it is in the city, we do not have such challenges of altitude or rocky terraine. Â Lorenzo knowledge is based on years of research and reading manuscripts as well as the nature that stands or once stood in its place.
Some upcoming walks in the series will include: Cascine, Isolotto, Scandicci, Bellosguardo, Soffiano, Cintoia, Lastra a Signa, Galluzzo, and Arcetri.
Our First walk will be Monday November 29th Parco delle Cascine 9:30-12:00 Â See details below.
Description: We will explore the biggest public park of Florence, enjoying the enchanting colors of the Fall and the views across the Arno, while learning at the same time about its historical buildings and monuments, like the Palazzina Reale, the Pavoniere and much more. It's an opportunity to understand how the Cascine developed from agricultural private property to a public park most appreciated by the Florentine for fairs, ceremonies or sport. Historical anecdotes and stunning trees – some local and some exotic – will accompany our walk.
