Settignano – Monte Fanna

Description: We start the hike on the slopes of Monte Fanna, between pleasant woods and open stretches with stunning 360 degree views. We reach the top of the mountain in Poggio Pratone (670 m) for more spectacular views and to enjoy one of the loveliest parts of the famous Via degli Dèi and have a bite to eat.  The second part of the hike is within the valley of river Sambre, a very important area for the ancient Etruscans; we see a chamber tomb dating back to the 7th or 6th century b.C. To complete the loop we follow the stream to one of the most beautiful waterfalls that serves as a bathing site in the summer.  

Terrain: Mainly wood trails ,often irregular; some quiet paved roads at the end.

Level: Moderate- challenging ( walk is long and a steep hike up to Poggio Pratone) We will have to keep a good pace. 

Disance: 15km (9.32 Miles)

Total climb: 700m ( 2,300 feet)

What to bring: Poles if you have them , at least 1-2 Lt of water, Packed Lunch/snacks
